‘Tea Feast’ reflects typical Eastern cultures and lifestyles, creating a comfortable and relaxing space for tea appreciation. The greenery outdoors hinders the crowdedness of high-rise buildings. Through the glass curtain, bamboos and plants can be reflected in the room. It creates an inner and outer sphere both suitable for tea tasting, just like a utopia in the city. Purposes: The tea tasting spaces, both enclosed and open, create a sense of escapism accompanied by tea.
Methods: By integrating tea and wood, the indoor features solid wood tabletops. The warmth and bamboos outside the window create a sense of seclusion.
Results: By transcending time and space, one can relax to the fullest in the tea tasting space.
Living among the hustle and bustle of the city, it is difficult for modern people to appreciate the scenery and tea in the bamboo forest unlike the past lifestyle. We try to simulate a way to slow down the pace of life and to enjoy tea tasting surrounded by bamboos by creating a sense of freedom and a liminal moment. In this space, one can truly relax and feel the connections between people. Through a cup of hot tea, we pass on our emotions and feelings to our friends. By realizing the ‘Tao’ while enjoying tea, we find the middle path in our life journey together. The bamboo forest designed outside the window creates an idyllic landscape. By hindering disordered high-rise buildings, the interior is wrapped into a unique space. One can enjoy the tranquility anytime during the day. The design of concave wall in the middle and the straight and long corridor metaphorizes the desires and spirit of the literati. Although life is a long journey, we aim to design a free and easy spiritual residence (Tea Space) – looping and pursuing the way of life.
